March 17th 2016 -- The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) participated in the Caribe Wave 2016 Hemispheric Exercise Thursday 17th March 2016. This annual exercise involved national focal points being engaged in various exercises such as tabletop exercises, evacuation drills, etc.
In St. Kitts five (5) learning institutions namely; Beach Allen and Maurice Hillier Primary Schools, Washington Archibald and Basseterre High Schools and AVEC/Project Strong. Students, teachers and auxiliary staff totalling about 2,600 evacuated to an identified assembly point just outside the RLB Airport fence bordering the FT Williams High Way and St. Peters Road.
The exercise was a tremendous success and would not have been possible without the support and involvement of the following;
