The group arrived last Saturday accompanied by Deirdre Cumberbatch of River Communications Public Relations Agency, which is contracted by the Tourism Authority in the UK market.
The group represents all four corners of the UK, with publications including the Yorkshire Evening Post, with a circulation of 53, 262; Liverpool Echo, 102,488 readers ; Media Wales, 8 million readers; Daily Record, Scotland, 358,290 and the Irish Times, with more than 119,000 readers.
The total combined circulation is just under nine million, equaling to more than £100,000 worth of coverage.
Senator Ricky Skerritt, Minister responsible for Tourism, Sports & Culture said, “The availability of improved air access to St Kitts on British Airways, which now flies directly from London’s Gatwick Airport, has made St Kitts more accessible to visitors wherever their starting point is. The ensuing media coverage resulting from this trip will be invaluable to St. Kitts tourism and we hope therefore to see a lot more tourists coming in from the counties and particularly Scotland, Wales and Ireland.”
A schedule of events highlighting the island’s heritage and culture as well as its natural beauty, varied attractions and cuisine will ensure the journalists experience every facet of the island first hand with a view to writing up positive and impactful articles.
A day trip to Nevis has also been scheduled to highlight the island as an add-on to St. Kitts.
