BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS is mostly the case, most of the persons who pleaded guilty yesterday (May. 5) at the Traffic Court were charged with the offence of driving without due care and attention.
The Traffic Department reports that of the seven who pleaded guilty before Her Honour Karen Hill-Hector, four were accused of the stated offence.
They are Dion Daniel of Dieppe Bay, Jason Gumbs of Shadwell, Joseph Fahie of St. Paul’s and Anthony Barzey.
Daniel was fined $1,000 for the January 14, 2016 offence and has until May 31 to pay the sum or serve 30 days at Her Majesty’s Prison.
Gumbs was fined $700 for the November 19, 2015 offence and also has until the end of the month to pay the sum or serve 30 days imprisonment.
A $500 fine was slapped on Fahie and he was told by the court that a 14-day imprisonment period is applicable if he fails to be within the specified period. The offence was committed on March 9, 2016.
Barzey could also face a 14-day term of imprisonment if he fails to pay the $500 fine imposed by the court.
Romeo Richardson of Saddlers, Michael Henry of Stapleton Village and Sunil Liddle of Lime Kiln Project also pleaded guilty to the charges brought against them and were fined by the court.
Richardson was fined $500 for driving off the bus route and Liddie was fined a total of $1,000 for driving without insurance and driving without a license.
Henry pleaded guilty to failing to comply with lawful direction, failing to comply with traffic sign and picking up passengers in a non-designated area. He was fined $300 on each count.
They too have until the end of the month to pay their fines or be sentenced to prison.
