    Roadtown, Tortola -  Since the announcement of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sport’s (DYAS) Television Talk Show in March, the department has embarked on a series of in-house workshops which began on May 4.

     

    “The aim of these workshops is to enhance the skills-set of the cast members as it pertains to public speaking, clear articulation of ideas, interviewing skills, self-presentation/projection and technical aspects such as production and editing,” said Mrs. Persia Tobin-Evelyn, Assistant Director of Youth Affairs and Sports.  She also indicated that the workshop is ideal for facilitating the goal of the department which is to help prepare the cast for the launching of the show in August, 2009.

     

    Additionally, the cast members participating in the Lifestyle Etiquette 101 Workshop-The Complete Guide to Healthy, Stylish and Fulfilled Life to be held on Saturday, May 16 at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s Auditorium.

     

    The workshop, organised by Mr. Terry Donovan, offers tips on appropriate behaviour and personal dress style for all occasions, improving over-all self-image, enhancing self-beauty by demonstrating live make-up tips, selection of the best skin-care products and effective hair care.

     

    Mrs. Evlyn-Tobin added that the cast is energetic and creative, and excited about working with the department to help meet the challenges that come with present day issues affecting young people. The cast consists of 14 individuals including a male host and female co-host and represents a good cross-section of the youth of the Virgin Islands (UK).  She also anticipates that the talk show will engage young people in fruitful discussion that would yield positive and relevant solutions for change.
