CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – ST. THOMAS’ captured all the top prizes in the Rotary Club of Nevis Fourth Annual Primary Schools Spelling Bee Competition held yesterday (May 14) at the Methodist Church Conference Hall in Charlestown.
At the end of the final round of the competition, St. Thomas’ was the clear winner from among the nine participating schools, beating into second place VOJN Primary which won a tie-break from Maude Cross Preparatory and Joycelyn Liburd Primary, in that order.
St. Thomas’ also won the Best Speller award when Cheslyn Maloney beat his team mate K-Jel Smiten in another tie-breaker. Maude Cross’s Khalil Yeldell was also involved in the tie-break but was the first one eliminated.
Also part of the competition, which was moderated by Education Officer Andrea Bussue, were St. John’s Primary, Lyn Jeffers’ Primary, Ivor Walters’ Primary, St. James’ Primary and Charlestown Primary.
