    St. Georges, Grenada - As a result of an incident that occurred on Wednesday 13th May at the St. George’s Bus Terminus Jason James, a 28 year old Mt. Gramby resident was arrested and formally charged. The charges were laid during the evening of Wednesday 13th May 2009

     

    Four charges were laid against James.

    1. Use of obscene language
    2. Causing harm
    3. Assault on a Police Officer
    4. Threats  of unlawful harm

     

    Officers of the CID have indicated that additional charges could be laid against James and he has been advised accordingly.

     

    James was granted bail to the sun of EC $4000 and one surety, and is scheduled to appear before the St. George’ Magistrate Court on 23rd June 2009.

     

    James a member of the Royal Grenada Police Force was off-duty at the time of the incident.

     

    Acting Commissioner Franklyn Redhead has suspended James from his duties as a member of the Royal Grenada Police Force effective Thursday 14th May 2009, pending the outcome of the matters before the court.

     

    Meanwhile Commissioner of Police Mr. James Clarkson has indicated that he intends to address the matter of Police Officers operating buses and other forms of public transportation without the proper authorization and permission of the Office of the Commissioner of Police.

     

    Commissioner Clarkson is presently out of state and is expected back on Saturday May 16th 2009.
