Weekend Vibes - Reduced channels on CCN television

By: Nevis Bureau, SKNVibes

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – SERVICES provider Caribbean Communications Network Ltd. (CCN) recently removed a few channels from local television as part of restructuring activities. The rates remained the same however, and this is what Weekend Vibes asked Nevisians to comment on this week.

Oretta Noland – I am not pleased because you still have to pay the same money and watching fewer channels. I am not satisfied! Someone needs to investigate this situation; something needs to be done about it. I love to watch channel 60 because they bring on Coronation Street and I love to watch that. When I turn on my TV, my best channel is out…most of my favourite channels are out. I am not happy.

Samuel Webbe – I am not happy about that. I think the price for cable should be reduced since we are using fewer channels. Could the management of Caribbean Cable do something about this?

Sandreen – I think it’s too much. I’m paying for fewer, especially for the fact that the good channels that we women watch such as Lifetime is out. The channels that are on are not exciting at all. I think the management needs to look into it.

Debbie – Personally I don’t think they have the right to just take out the channels without first informing the public. As far as paying the same amount of money is concerned, I don’t think it’s fair to consumers to be paying the same amount of money seeing that they took out practically the best channels like Lifetime, which was my Saturday and Sunday because those are the only two days you could relax and watch TV. It’s not fair! Everybody should cut their cable and watch dvds.

John Arthurton – The cable rates in Nevis are very expensive to begin with. They have the monopoly and yet we still have to continue to pay this high rate for fewer channels while they are waiting in the wings to increase the rate.
