Police seek public’s help in cracking hit-and-run case

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE officers of District ‘B’ are asking for the public’s help in cracking a case where a male pedal cyclist was knocked down by a motorist, who left him in an injured state and failed to report the accident.

The incident reportedly occurred late yesterday afternoon (Jun. 3) along the island main road in the Halfway Tree area.

District Commander for that area Superintendent Lionel Moore told SKNVibes that the young man was riding a bicycle towards Basseterre’s direction when a motor vehicle struck the bicycle from the rear, which caused him to be thrown to the ground, and the driver left the scene.

Superintendent Moore said he was told that the cyclist might have suffered at least one broken bone and that his injuries are “serious”.

He was reportedly transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where he is receiving treatment.

Superintendent Moore said the police would appreciate if the public would pass on any information that it might have concerning the incident.

He also said individuals who have such information could contact the Sandy Point Police Station at 465-6261 or any other police station.
