VIEUX FORT, ST. LUCIA, JUNE 14th, 2016 (PRESS SEC) – Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris will attend the swearing-in ceremony in St. Lucia of newly elected Prime Minister the Honourable Allen Chastanet’s Cabinet of Ministers today, Tuesday, June 14th, 2016.

St. Lucia’s Prime Minister will formally disclose the makeup of his Cabinet today at a swearing-in ceremony that is scheduled to start at 4:30pm.  The swearing-in will take place at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort.

On Monday, June 6th, the Chastanet-led United Workers’ Party (UWP) defeated at the polls the St. Lucia Labour Party, which was led by then-Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Kenny Anthony.  The UWP won 11 of the 17 seats.

That night, Prime Minister Harris made a congratulatory phone call to St. Lucia’s Prime Minister-elect, who was sworn in as Prime Minister the next day.

Dr. Harris followed up with a congratulatory letter dated June 7th, 2016. “I am pleased to welcome you as a colleague and friend, not just in service to the people of Saint Lucia but in service to the people of the OECS, CARICOM and the wider region,” Prime Minister Harris wrote to Prime Minister Chastanet.

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis was the Featured Speaker at the St. Lucian United Workers’ Party’s 50th Anniversary Gala on March 28th, 2015.
