BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A man, said t o be a US citizen, is currently in police custody after he had attempted to leave St. Kitts aboard a private plane with a shotgun in his luggage.
According to a police communiqué, “One person is in police custody after a firearm was discovered in his luggage while being screened for departure at the Robert L. Bradshaw International Airport on Monday night (June 13).”
It also stated that a joint investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Police and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise Department.
SKNVibes was however told that the firearm was discovered in the luggage of the American citizen as he was preparing to board the aircraft at the Basseterre YU Lounge.
Unconfirmed report states that the man is a famous designer and he might have had the shotgun with him when he entered the country sometime during the last weekend aboard an aircraft owned by a regular visitor to the Federation.
This publication was also told that the shotgun is one used for small-game hunting.
