June 17th, 2016 -- Hard work, determination and perseverance and continued personal development are just some of the ingredients which were added to many others that have resulted in the FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets Football Club advancing to the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association’s Premier Division Football Finals. The FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets Football team is the youngest team in the Premier Division but their age did not limit the fight within them. As a matter of fact, it seemed to have sparked a fire deep within as they continuously worked during the seasons to beat the odds time after time again.
This year’s finals have seen the results of a game three being forced as the FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets Football Club fought to the finish in Tuesday night’s game and came out victorious as they downed SOL Island Auto Conaree 1-0 to equalize the series. This is the first in over a decade where a game three was forced and we say thanks to our young footballers and experienced coaching staff of the FLOW 4G Cayon Football Club Rockets.
In speaking with a few community residents, one female said she feels very proud of the team as many times when the community of Cayon is in the news, it’s because of a criminal activity but to see the community being highlighted like this, her heart is pleased. She went on to say, “I don’t know much about the sport but I will be there tomorrow, Friday to give the boys my full support. Just tell me where a could get a shirt!” Standing in close proximity was a gentleman who chimed in with praises for the football club.
“Me proud, proud, proud, of me Cayon football team right now,” he said. “A don’t care what done happen or no happen yet, me have to big up de man dem because they could have been getting caught up in crime in de community, but they choose to play football. Me see them go train everyday and you see now, hard work pay off! Me nar miss park for the world, this might be the second time me going park for the season but it’s for a good reason. Stay positive boys, you reach so far, just finish it!” His facial expressions told more of the story that can never be captured with words. It was that look that told a story of pride, gratitude and excitement.
To this end, the Management and Coaching Staff of the FLOW 4G Cayon Rockets Football Club would like to take the opportunity to say thanks to our football team for aspiring for greatness. Play until the end and make us even more proud. Thanks to God for bringing our players thus far without severe injury.
