By: Stanford Conway, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – JUST two days after the shooting death of Icilma Francis, another woman was killed in Shadwell Gardens, Basseterre.

Dead is Orngel Estridge of Cayon Village, who was shot tonight (May 19) at approximately 8:30 while at her sister’s residence at John F Kennedy Street in Shadwell Gardens.

According to reports, Estridge, who was recovering from a recent illness, was within one of the bedrooms of her sister’s home conversing with a male companion when an unidentified gunman pushed his firearm through the northern window and shot her.

SKNVibes learnt that the male companion was her boyfriend and he was seated on the bed with her. It was also revealed that he got up from the bed and was bending over her while conversing. However, while in that position, the assailant fired one shot which grazed his left ear, continued in its flight and struck Estridge on the right side of her head, killing the 26-year-old in the process.

According to the Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry, who was also at the scene of the crime, “The police are appealing to persons who have information on this incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at telephone number 465-2241 extension 220, 230, 236 or the crime hotline at 707.” He also stated that information could be given anonymously and would be kept in strict confidence.

This has been the 12th homicide to have occurred in the twin-island Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis for the year. On Sunday, at about 3:00 a.m., 38-year-old Icilma Francis, also known as Micey, of Edwards Lane, New Ponds Site was fatally shot while travelling in a vehicle in Molineaux Village.

According to reports, Francis, her boyfriend Brian ‘DJ Ras Benjie’ Farrell and her daughter Linda were travelling in motor jeep PA2719 when an unidentified gunman opened fire on the vehicle.

Francis was hit in the chest and Farrell, driver of the jeep, was shot in the arm and leg. The daughter told SKNVibes that the incident occurred shortly after they left at a club in Molineaux, and Farrell, in his injured state, drove the vehicle all the way to the Joseph N France General Hospital, where Francis was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations into this incident are ongoing.
