BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ANOTHER middle manager of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has recently been elevated in rank, according to Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley.

Speaking with SKNVibes, Commissioner Queeley declared that Sergeant Carl Greaux, the Officer-in-Charge of Cayon Police Station, was yesterday (Jul. 6) promoted to the rank of Acting Inspector with effect from May 1, 2016.

In an exclusive interview, this publication has learnt that the newly-promoted Inspector had given some 22 years yeoman service to the Federation through the Police Force.

Born to Amthyst Jacobs and Carl Greaux Sr., the junior Greaux’s primary education was obtained at the Basseterre Boys School and his secondary at the Basseterre Junior High, where he gained passes in six subjects at the National Certificate of Education Examination.

Questioned on what motivated him to become a member of the Police Force, Greaux said as a small boy growing up in East Street, within proximity of the Police Training School, he would have seen some aspects of Recruits being trained and that not only aroused his curious nature but also a longing to serve and protect citizens and residents of as well as visitors to the Federation.

In essence, Greaux said: “After joining the Force, I had and still have set goals and my objective is to be a professional, motivated and well-equipped trained Police Officer, working harmoniously with all stakeholders in an effort to reduce crime in my beloved Federation.”

To achieve those goals, he first successfully completed his Recruit Training and after two years into the organisation the young Constable was posted to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Nevis.

Greaux was later transferred back to St. Kitts where he worked at the St. Paul’s Police Station and the Frigate Bay Outpost until 2005 when he was promoted to Corporal while at the CID in St. Kitts and he was subsequently posted to Dieppe Bay Police Station as the Officer-in-Charge.

His dedication and knowledge of the profession saw him attaining the rank of Acting Sergeant in 2013 and appointed Officer-in-Charge of Cayon Police Station.

While in conversation with two of Greaux’s peers, SKNVibes learned that among the professional skills he honed during his tenure from Constable to Sergeant are: Excellent  investigative skills and well-versed in Case Management, Research, Analysis and Crime Prevention; experience in understanding training needs and building programmes for the development of Junior Officers; very strong leadership skills; and very good interpersonal skills, ability to work well with others in both supervisory and support-staff roles.

As a result of his professionalism, knowledge and dedication, in 2004 the then Constable Greaux was awarded Best Investigator and Most Criminal Cases prosecuted at the District 'B' Magistrate Court.

He had also completed a number of courses relative to his profession both locally and regionally as well as internationally. Among them were Basic Law Enforcement Techniques, Surveillance, Crime Scene Investigation, Basics of Operational Intelligence and Drug Abuse Resistance Education.

In addition to his early academic achievement and the courses completed over the years as a Police Officer, Greaux was still not satisfied with those achievements and decided to seek higher education.

In 2002, he successfully completed the two-year Certificate in Social Services programme at the University of the West Indies Mona Campus in Jamaica. This was followed by Business Law and Organisational Behaviour Courses at UWI Open Campus in 2004.

And over a four-year period (2010-2014), he successfully completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Police Leadership and Management at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom.

When asked to whom he would attribute his most recent success, with that known pleasant affective smile and almost inaudible giggle, the Christian-oriented father of two said: “I owe it to a number of people. Firstly, to my Heavenly Father and Creator; for without Him success would have been as far as the east is to the west. I must first thank God because through Him all things in my life have been made possible.

“I must also thank my wife Michelle and other family members as well as my friends for the support they have provided me over the years, and not forgetting the members of the Gideons International for my character building.
