BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - US rapper Snoop Dog is said to be testing the waters with a different genre and is now going reggae.

According to Got Tempo, an online media house, the rapper has recently recorded a number of reggae tracks with members of the Marley family and is looking to release a reggae album sometime in the near future.

Snoop Dog, who was born Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr., will also be hooking up with Stephen Marley this summer for a tour dubbed “Blazed and Confused”.

The month-long trek will kick off on July 10 in Primm, Nevada and head across the country to Denver, Portland, Salt Lake City and Atlanta before wrapping in Boston on August 8.

Marley was quoted as saying that the US rapper has always had respect for their culture, his father and the family. “And likewise, in those days when it was mostly gangster rap, he was all about the chronic (marijuana) which to us was a good way of taking it away from shooting guns. Snoop was one of the rappers that we would listen to because he was promoting herb.”
