The Ministry of Education receives technology donation from International Software Services, St. Kitts-Nevis

By: EMU, Press Release

(EMU) – St. Kitts, July 15, 2016:  The Ministry of Education is grateful for the generous gift of a number of pieces of industry standard technology equipment for distribution across the ministry from the CEO of International Software Services, St Kitts-Nevis, Dana Parham, on the closing of its operations in the Federation, this month (July).

Minister of Education and Deputy Prime Minister, Hon Shawn Richards, expressed his appreciation for the donation of several, keyboards, monitors and networking equipment well needed in the primary and secondary schools in St Kitts and noted his special thanks for the gift of a cutting edge rack mount server system with a high capacity UPS redundant power supply.

“These items are well received and especially at a time when the Education Management Information Systems Department is seeking to establish the requisite information systems to support the administrative, planning and education services of the ministry,” Minister Richards shared. He acknowledged that the integration of information technology in enhancing the performance of the ministry in meeting the mandate of ‘providing holistic education to all’ is deemed as a critical component of the Ministry’s Education Sector Improvement Strategy, and as such the well-timed and most valuable contribution to the Ministry efforts was invaluable.

The technology donation was facilitated by Ms. Charmaine Griffin, Operations Manager of ISS-SKN and Lester Hanley, a concerned private sector national development partner, who both realised the importance of such a contribution to those requiring government entities in the furthering of well needed public services. “I am truly elated that our contribution is so well received by the Ministry of Education, and that it is to be deployed to such a noble goal of improving the quality of education of the Federation,” Ms Griffin stated, sharing ISS-SKN’s enthusiasm in contributing to nation building efforts.

The equipment is described as being on par with industry standards for information management and security, and is deemed as lending much required technological support to the efforts of the Education Planning Division’s EMIS Department and Technology Support Team as they seek to bridge the information gaps across the Ministry of Education.
