BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE OFFICER Brian Pacquette, who died while seeking medical assistance for a gunshot wound sustained in the line of duty, will be laid to rest today (Aug. 9) in his homeland Dominica.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office, the Federation’s political leader, Dr. Timothy Harris and a delegation will be in attendance of the officer’s funeral service.
The Prime Minister met yesterday (Aug. 8) with relatives of the deceased officer - at which time - he expressed sincere condolences to the bereaved parents.
Dr. Harris, who is also the Minister of National Security, and Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley are expected to make comments at the interring of the young law enforcement officer.
The funeral service is expected to get underway at 2:00pm at the Truth and Grace Fellowship Global church in Roseau where the Prime Minister will be delivering a Scripture lesson from 2 Kings Chapter 4 - Verses 17 - 23, while CoP Queeley will deliver a tribute to the officer.
The interment for the 34-year-old will take place at the Roseau Public Cemetery.
On June 23, Officer Pacquette and one of his colleagues was responding to a call of larceny in Greenlands and it is reported that while in the area, the officers stopped a male individual.
According to Police Release the officer searched the male at which point a knife was found on his possession, shortly thereafter a scuffle ensued and resulted in Pacquette being shot.
The officer, after undergoing treatment locally, was flown to Trinidad and Tobago for further treatment, but succumbed to his injuries on July 18.
That shooting incident has left many unanswered questions in the public sphere.
