    BASSE TERRE, St. Kitts – THIRTEEN calypsonians will be competing tomorrow (May 22) in the first calypso tent of the Green Valley Calypso Competition Eliminations to be held from 8:30 p.m. at Upper Cayon.

     

    According to Dominque Stevens, Chairman of the Calypso Sub-committee, five persons would be eliminated tomorrow night while the other eight will go on to the Senior Calypso Monarch Finals on Saturday, May 30.

     

    He said participants would include King Godfrey, Mighty Various, Mighty Babu, Singing Angie, Big Lice, Mighty Priest and the Mighty Piggy.

     

    Stevens added that although five calypsonians would be eliminated, they would still have a chance to compete for the “Best of the Rest” crown that would be added as a part of the Junior Calypso Competition to be held on Thursday, May 28.

     

    The annual Green Valley Festival kicks off on Wednesday, May 27 with the official opening ceremony under the theme “Promoting Community Development Through Cultural Involvement”, followed by a host of events including a Kids’ Fun Day, Parade of Troupes, shows and more.
