BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Ministry of Education has yes to release the overall results of students who sat the Caribbean Secondary Certificate Examination (CSEC) and Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) in May and June, 2016.
The Federation’s education officials, SKNVibes understands, received the results from the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) early last month, however, no official word has come from those quarters.
Minister of Education the Hon. Shawn K. Richards, recently at the Government’s town hall meeting in Dieppe Bay, congratulated young Rol J Williams for attaining 17 Grade one passes, indicating that he suspected that the young man had the country’s top grade.
The Minister went on to disclose that two institutions had seen increased passes at this year’s examinations – the Verchild’s High School and the Cayon High School.
He said they gained 10% and 7% increases respectively.
Recently, at the opening of the Teachers Summer Workshop, Minister Richards gave further information concerning the pass rate of various schools across the twin-island Federation. Calls however, are being made for the full body of results to be released.
Many have speculated that the recent reports of the missing School Based Assessment (SBA) grades would have been the cause of the delay. However, the problem surrounding those grades for Social Studies students of the Basseterre High School have been reportedly rectified. And still no official word on the overall performance of the Federation is forthcoming.
SKNVibes.com reached out to the local registrar – Claxton - who indicated that he would not comment on the Federation’s results before the Minister makes his official statement.
When asked for a specified date for the release of the overall grades and statistics, he said he would not like to speculate as to what the Minister’s schedule is.
When contacted by this publication, Minister Richards indicated that analysis of the results is still being done and a release date has yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Education in the Nevis Island Administration the Hon. Vance Amory, today (Sept. 2) issued a comprehensive review of the CSEC and CAPE results for that island.
