BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IN light of the recent irresponsible act by a member or members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, former Minister of National Security and Parliamentary Representative for St Christopher Two, the Hon. G.A. Dwyer Astaphan is calling on the Commissioner of Police to fully investigate and advise the public how it happened.

In a release dated Friday, May 22, Astaphan said, “I have had the great misfortune of seeing two gruesome photos of a young lady, Ms. Orngel Estridge, who was shot and killed in the Shadwell Site area earlier this week. These photos are apparently on the internet.

“I cannot find words sufficient express my outrage at this irresponsible and callous assault on the shocked and mourning relatives and friends of the young lady, and on the sensibilities of the people of this nation as a result of the publication of these photos.

“I hereby call upon the Commissioner of Police to fully investigate and to advise the general public as to how this happened, and to make absolutely sure that whoever is responsible for the publication of these pictures is subjected to the firmest possible disciplinary action.”

He also extended deepest condolences to the families of Orngel Estridge and Icilma ‘’Micey’ Francis, who also died from a gunshot wound while in Molineux Village on Sunday, May 17.

“I also use this sad moment as an opportunity to call upon the Government to have a new look at the proposals which I put forward during my time as Minister of National Security, and also to call upon all right-minded citizens and residents to chip in and make a difference.

“Our problems are very serious, but they can be resolved. I am confident of that. May God guide and bless us,” Astaphan concluded.
