BASSETERRE, St. Kitts (Wednesday 7th September, 2016)Community activist and education enthusiast Dr. Terrance Drew continues to  contribute to the academic well-being of students from Constituency Eight having successfully hosted a massive Back To School Fair this past weekend which saw many primary and secondary school students receiving school supplies for the start of the new school year.

Books, pens and pencils were among items distributed at the event held at the St. Peter’s Playfield on Saturday 3rd September. Hair plaiting and grooming services were also offered.

Children from the various communities including Keys, Conaree, Cayon and St. Peter’s participated in fun games such as bouncing castles, lucky dips and friendly football.

Speaking at the event Dr. Drew, expressed that it was his pleasure to have hosted the children along with the parents and guardians at the first of such event. He wished the children all the best for the new school year as he encouraged them to do well.

In an interview with his public relations team, he elaborated on the importance of parental involvement in helping today's youths to reach their true potential as it relates to academic success.

“Education is indeed the key to success. Parents and guardians must ensure that children are given the right support so that our future leaders are properly prepared to excel in life by having a sound academic background.”

Dr. Drew has also urged parents and guardians to play an active role in their children's lives.

“I am appealing to parents, especially those who have children entering high schools for the first time, to supervise your children; help them with their homework, know who their friends are and also encourage them to do their best at all times."

According to him, while there are some children who are not as academically-inclined as others, those children should be motivated to do their best.

Dr. Drew is aware that currently the Cayon Primary School is undergoing some repairs. Hence, he is hoping that work presently being carried out would be completed in a timely manner so that students can get back to the classrooms as soon as possible.
