Met Office monitoring area of disturbed weather

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts Meteorological Office is monitoring “a large area of disturbed weather” which could develop into a tropical cyclone as early as over the weekend.

In a release issued today (Sept 9), the Met Office explained that the disturbed weather is “associated with a tropical wave” and is on a westward path.

The disturbance is located some 1200 miles to the east of the Lesser Antilles and according to the release, “the system is getting better organized and conditions are forecast to be favourable for the development of a tropical depression by this weekend or early next week”.

According to projections, the disturbance would take a north-westerly path taking it away from the Caribbean Islands.

It is however advised that citizens of the Leeward Islands as well as the Virgin Islands pay close attention to the system as it progresses over the next several days.

Individuals within the Federation are asked to stay tuned to the local media outlets through which information about the development of the disturbed weather would be channeled.
