BASSETERRE, ST. Kitts – PRIME MINISTER Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris has reaffirmed his commitment to the coalition Team Unity, after reports in the media and the Opposition indicated that there are kinks in the Government.

Concerns were raised in the public sphere that the People’s Labour Party (PLP) could field candidates in all eight constituencies when the next general elections are called.

Should this becomes a reality, it would create dissolution of the coalition and the People’s Action Movement would have to field candidates in every constituency in St. Kitts.

But last evening (Sept. 8) the Prime Minister addressed those concerns when he responded to a caller’s question during the Government’s town hall meeting at the McKnight Community Centre.

“The answer is that we are part of Team Unity and we are committed to Team Unity, and we will not undertake any action that undermines the stability of Team Unity,” Dr. Harris declared.

According to the PLP Leader, that is what some of his critiques would want him and the party to do but that would not be the case.

He added: “We are a team and we have said that we would work together for the country, that we would subordinate party agenda for the agenda and work programme of the team.”

In that regard, the Federation’s Political Leader categorically stated that his Government is doing well and it is the people who gave the Team Unity Administration the support.

Dr. Harris also declared that he is grateful to be leading the Team Unity Government and pledged that “I will  be available always to work with them to advance their interest in the context of the broad national agenda.

“When you look at the Team Unity, you say that the Team Unity is one well represented, but some people want to create confusion in the team by talking about individual parties…”

He noted that evidence of this is highlighted in the way the Government conducts its business.
