Congratulations to the Government and People of St. Kitts and Nevis on this 33rd Anniversary of Independence

By: Christophe Harbour, Press Release

A message to the Prime Minister and people of St. Kitts & Nevis

Christophe Harbour, September 16th, 2016 -- On behalf of the entire team at Christophe Harbour, I would like to convey our heartfelt admiration and warmest wishes to the Government and people of The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis on this 33rd Anniversary of Independence. After more than three decades of nationhood, you have much to celebrate as the country emerges as a leading developing nation, not only here in the Caribbean, but internationally.

St. Kitts and Nevis is entering a very exciting and promising period of history, and Christophe Harbour is pleased to be a partner in your progress. With $315 million invested to-date, Christophe Harbour is dedicated to our continued role in both economic and social spheres, but most importantly to the overall enhancement of the tourism product.

We have a shared agenda of prosperity, and I want to thank the Prime Minister and the Government for their demonstrated progressive thinking and for making a significant investment in St. Kitts and Christophe Harbour’s future. It is this progressive thinking that paved the way for the development of the tourism product and that forged our partnership with an eye to the future.

The execution of a project of this nature requires the collaboration and support of many institutions, organizations and individuals, and we thank the nearly 600 businesses in St. Kitts and Nevis that support Christophe Harbour. We are proud to partner with you and continue to be both impressed and encouraged by the quality of character and spirit of entrepreneurialism that exists here.

As we look to the future, a careful and considered approach may seem drawn out, but doing it right takes time. Progress has been steady and encouraging, despite formidable challenges, and significant milestones have been achieved, most notably the opening of The Marina at Christophe Harbour.

As the yachting industry evolves, we are pleased to continue our work with Tourism Minister Hon. Lindsay Grant and his team to further the overall plans and programs that will guide the advancement of such an important sector.

Even in its infancy, the yachting product is already delivering record numbers of yachts to our waters with a 20% year-over-year increase in large yacht traffic over the last four years. With the Customs House and first phase of retail opening in the marina village early next year, we anticipate that traffic will grow significantly along with overnight stays. The economic impact of just one yacht in port is tremendous, and as such, having 10 superyachts in port is the equivalent of one 160-room hotel. The support and ancillary services for these vessels are equally as impactful, and our relationships with the local business community continue to burgeon as this potential is realized.

The openings of The Pavilion and SALT Plage along with the completion of significant infrastructure works have enriched the overall tourism offering, and our bungalows, named “one of the top hotel suites in the world,” along with 27 private villas draw new visitors to our shores daily.

We are proud that during turbulent economic times we found a hotel partner in Range Developments, and as a result, Park Hyatt St. Kitts was announced at Christophe Harbour some four years ago. Upon its opening at Banana Bay next year, this hotel will be monumental, a game-changer not only for the Federation, but also for the region.

Most importantly, it is the management and staff of Christophe Harbour Development Company who make Christophe Harbour thrive. Our team is Kittitian and Nevisian strong, which means the product is not only developed with an eye to authenticity, it’s also managed in such a way to impart a sense of ownership, loyalty and pride in what we are creating together – a place that will help enhance the lives of all Kittitians and Nevisians for many generations.

Therefore, it is with much hope and expectation that through our steadfast partnership in progress, The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to thrive and prosper. I wish you much success and all the best for the continued growth of this great nation.

Once again, congratulations on this celebration of your 33rd year of Independence. I am thrilled to watch St. Kitts and Nevis take its place on the world’s stage.
