BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SKNVibes understands that last night’s shooting victim has been identified as a teenager of Hanley’s Road.
Information received by this publication indicates that the victim is 16-year-old Ozanny or Ozanie Maynard.
According to a police press release issued this morning (Sept. 21), he was gunned down sometime after 8:00 p.m.
The full release read, “The Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting incident in Rawlins Village Nevis which resulted in the death of a male juvenile, a resident of Hanley's Road.Initial investigations revealed the victim was shot by an unknown assailant(s) in Rawlins Village sometime after 8.00pm on Tuesday (September 20).
“Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit, the Criminal Investigations Department and technicians from the Forensic Services Unit have canvassed the scene for evidence. The investigation continues.”
The circumstances of Hanley’s death are still unclear to this publication, It has however been classified as a homicide, which has taken the count to 24 committed in the Federation for the year.
Prime Minister and Minister of National Security Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris recently indicated that the assistance of the Regional Security System has been sought in dealing with the Federation’s crime situation and “confronting the forces of lawlessness”.
He also indicated that his Government is determined to call upon the international community to provide it with “all the resources that could be mustered and could be buttressed in order to make St. Kitts the safest place in the world”.
