CHARLESTOWN, Nevis – POLICE have reported that a 17-year-old male juvenile of Rawlins Village was recently slapped with the capital offence in the shooting death of 16-year-old Ozanny ‘Gunnis’ Maynard.
A police communiqué had stated that the Violent Crimes Unit was investigating a shooting incident in Rawlins Village, Nevis, which resulted in the death of a male juvenile of Hanley’s Road.
It also stated that initial investigations revealed that the victim was shot by an unknown assailant sometime after 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 20).
The police did not provide the name of the victim but this publication subsequently learned that he was Ozanny Maynard.
According to The St. Kitts-Nevis Observer, Maynard was gunned down while among friends in a place called England in Rawlins Village.
The media house also stated that it understood four or five were heard and Maynard was struck multiple times.
He had completed his studies at the Gingerland Secondary School in July and was scheduled to be among his peers at the Graduation Ceremony slated for November 2016.
Ozanny ‘Gunnis’ Maynard’s death has taken the number of homicides committed in the Federation for this year to 24.
