BVI, 28 September 2016 - The Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Juliette Penn is informing the British Virgin Islands community that the Preliminary Voters’ List for 2016 is available for inspection from September 27 to October 6.
This is in accordance with Section 18 (5) of the Elections Act, 1994 and Amendments.
Section 18 (5) of the Elections Act reads, “Every Preliminary List shall be open for inspection by the public free of charge during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in each day for a period of ten days after the publication at such places as the Governor may direct in the local electoral district to which the list applies and at the Elections Office, the General Post Office and all the Branch Post Offices and Sub-Post Offices throughout the Territory.”
The section continues, “Every person who claims that his/her name, address or occupation has been wrongfully stated or omitted from the Preliminary List shall give notice to the Supervision in Form No. 3 within four days after the publication of the said list.”
Persons whose name appears in any Preliminary List may object to another person whose name also appears on the list, but is not entitled to have his/her name listed therein, and shall give notice of the objection to the Supervisor of Elections in Form No. 4 within ten days after the publication of such list.
All claims or objections must be filed at the Elections Office. Forms are available at the Elections Office, located at #6 Ulric Dawson Building, Russell Hill Road, Road Town, Tortola.
The Public may inspect the Preliminary Voters List at the following locations:
