Spice proves she is Best of the Best

Press Release

Dancehall artiste, Spice was undeniably one of the top performers at this year's Best of the Best concert in Miami on Sunday.

The concert which gets an annual attendance of more than 45,000 and is said to rival events staged on the Super Bowl weekend in the US, has been a successful launching pad for international success for many Dancehall and Reggae acts over the years.

It's Spice's turn. Spice, whose correct name is Grace Hamilton, opened her set with a hit from her early career, "Fight Ova Man". During the performance, she surprised the audience with something that can only be described as a 'tic-tock split' - the audience roared with excitement.

She then moved into other songs including "Grab Up" and "Virginity Story" on the 85 riddim. The latter attracted a lot of attention and here's why.
During her "story" Spice had one foot firmly planted on the ground while the other was hoisted in the air at a perfect 180 degree angle. The crowd cheered relentlessly.

But it was the segment where she performed "Daggerer" that stamped her as one of the main acts for the night in the minds of those who knew her and those who were seeing her live for the first time. While on stage Spice noticed a male patron in the audience wining; she had to call him on stage.

"Yuh can dagger?" She asked. With tightened muscles and a big grin he replied, "Of course." She leaned against him and instructed him to "spin her like a satellite dish". The audience roared with uncontrollable frenzy.

"Though the entire segment was great, I really enjoyed that part of the performance because I got the crowd interacting with me and that's what entertainment is about," Spice laughed.

She ended her set with "Quint It Pon Di Left" and "Ramping Shop". As expected, the crowd didn't get their fill of this Caribbean spice. She was called back to the stage for an encore, where she did a version of Celine Dion's "I Am Your Lady". "I put my own twist to it. People loved it. It was great," she said.
