Press Release

New York, September 30, 2016 (Permanent Mission of St. Kitts-Nevis to the UN)—His Excellency Ambassador Sam T. Condor, Permanent Representative of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, engaged in yet another outreach initiative on Thursday September 29, 2016, this time meeting nationals of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis currently pursuing academic studies at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York.

The students hail from several villages throughout the Federation and they expressed their sincere appreciation to the Ambassador for visiting the college to get a clearer sense about their experience at the school.  The visit also helped to establish an open relationship with the young students so that they can acquire a better knowledge of the role of the Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations.

Executive Vice President at Monroe College, Mr. Mark Jerome, greeted Ambassador Condor and sat with the students to get a sense of their challenges and the comfort at which they have been able to transition to college life at New Rochelle. He reminded the students of the wealth of opportunity which living in New York provides and encouraged them to explore life beyond the college campus.

Ms. Kimarah Isaac, Special Project Coordinator at Monroe College, used the opportunity to speak about the resounding success of the Bachelors and Masters programmes offered by the College. She shared the pride she feels in the work Monroe College does to recruit and educate students from her homeland and she is encouraged by the willingness of the Ambassador and his staff to embrace the current and future generations of  Kittitians and Nevisians.

Ambassador Condor also met Academic Advisor Ms. Judi-Ann Butler who is familiar with the challenges facing both new and returning students.  She encouraged students not to be shy and reminded them that her role is to ensure that their stay at Monroe is a comfortable and successful one.

His Excellency Sam Condor used the opportunity to share his mission of outreach with the students, reminding them that his purpose is to serve the nationals of the Federation to the best of his ability.

He thanked Ms. Isaac for inviting him to the College and promised to return for a visit on another occasion.
