October 7th, 2016 -- America’s Next Top Model Cycle 4 winner Naima Mora and Grammy Award winning producer Josh Stevens will be celebrity guests at the official launch of the Miss Tourism World British Virgin Islands on Saturday, October 15 at the Sir Briercliffe Hall, Road Town, Tortola.
It will be a night of beauty, tourism, history and purpose.
Four tourism ambassadors between 18 and 26 years old will be officially introduced to the territory, and for the first time in the BVI, celebrity model Naima will rock the runway and also perform with music producer Stevens.
Caribbean Star Ouida, Relentless, former Mrs. BVI Shevone Thomas-Findlay, former Miss BVI and Miss World Rosanna Chichester, Relentless The Band and the young dance group Saturday Fusion, will also take the stage at the launch event, organized under the theme ‘The Symbol of Beauty’
Miss Tourism World, based in the United Kingdom, is not just another beauty pageant, it is a strategic pageantry tourism-promoting organisation geared at showcasing and promoting tourism of the host country, attracting more international media attention to the tourism product of that country and also to the other participating countries.
With tourism on the agenda, the Miss Tourism World British Virgin Islands has partnered with companies including Jahphix Entertainment, JTV, Travel Wize and BVICCHA.
“We first got in contact with the Miss Tourism World Organisation in early 2015 and were very enthusiastic at the prospect of hosting the Miss Tourism World BVI because we saw this as another avenue to plug the territory’s unmatched natural tourism product on an international stage. After all, tourism is an important sector in terms of income generation and employment creation in the territory.”
Our tourism ambassadors have spent the last month travelling around the territory and researching BVI’s amazing tourism brand which marries nature, history and adventures at sea.
“These girls have hiked Sage Mountain, parasailed, ziplined, dived into the beautiful Virgin Islands waters, sailed around the territory, cooked fungi and fish while touring the territory. It has been a great few weeks. The tours were organized to help delegates understand the territory’s brand to effectively market the BVI as tourism ambassadors.”
The trips were filmed for our Mini-Documentary Series - BVI – We Live It, You’ll Love Everything About It which will be broadcast this week on online (social media) and JTV Channel 55.
The launch night is already gearing up to be one of the most exciting events of 2016. From the stage backdrop to hall decorations, every aspect of the launch event will exemplify sophistication and fun - the two main characteristics of the territory’s tourism brand.
Absolutely Unique’s ‘The Islander” swimwear collection will also be unveiled on the night. Delegates will walk the runway in the customized stylish BVI-print swimwear.
The first Miss Tourism World BVI pageant will be held on March 18, 2017. Delegates will compete in five categories – talent, swimsuit, evening gown, national costume and interview.
Our first queen will compete alongside more than 80 queens from Africa, Europe, Asia, United States, Caribbean and South and Latin America.
A young, creative and professional team with experience in events management, media and pageantry is coordinating the Miss Tourism World BVI pageant.
