The Sangre Grande Development Foundation holds family fun day.

    THE SANGRE GRANDE DEVELOPMENT FOUNDATION
    HOLDS FAMILY FUN DAY

    Sangre Grande: October 8, 2016: The Sangre Grande Development Foundation (SGDF) hosted a successful Family Fun Day at the North Eastern College Grounds in Sangre Grande last weekend.

     

    The event, in its second year, was organized as a homecoming fun day for the Sangre Grande diaspora, giving families a chance to get out and enjoy themselves while using the platform for raising funds for the foundation.

     

    The foundation offered a day full of activities including musical chairs, bouncing castles, bingo, cricket competitions, movie screening amongst others. Winners were in the various competition categories were feted with trophies at the end of the event.

     

    The highlight of the day was a performance by the calypso musician Roy Cape, who was later honored by The Sangre Grande Development Foundation for his contributions to social change through music. Other artistes that performed include Joey Rivers, Ziggy Rankin, Asha Camachi, Asten Isaac, and Exodus Steel Band Orchestra amongst others. 

     

    SGDF President, Mr. Eric Taylor, also a calypso artiste gave the crowd a taste of his tunes.

     

    “We had a very exciting time despite the rains. The turnout was impressive and it was encouraging to see the community turn out in large numbers to support the fundraiser. The proceeds will go towards medical care, support of the elderly and providing school supplies to the needy amongst other social causes, “said Taylor.

     

    The Sangre Grande Development Foundation also officially launched its website, an information portal that was made possible through the foundation’s partnership with OPEN Interactive, a digital innovation firm based in St. Kitts and Nevis. 

     

    “We welcome partnerships that are beneficial in realizing the foundation’s objectives of improving the socio-economic lives of our people. OPEN Interactive have been very supportive offering strategic counsel and marketing services. Together we are looking at establishing a Creative Campus in the Sangre Grande area to promote creativity and a spirit of entrepreneurship for the development of our economy, “said Taylor. 

     

    OPEN Interactive CEO, Stachio Wlliams said, “We stand in support of the Sangre Grande Development Foundation. We are pleased with the efforts of Mr. Eric Taylor and his team in putting together a successful event. We look forward to a continued partnership and many future fundraising events.” 

     

    Also represented at the event was the Tourism Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago who showcased various tourism products at the exhibition area.
