19th, October, 2016 -- The Ministry of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, in collaboration with the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), will be conducting a two (2) workshop from the 25th – 26th October, 2016. The workshop will be held at the Ocean Terrace Inn and will commence 8:30 a.m. daily.
Among others, the aim of the workshop is to:
• increase participants’ awareness of IP and its importance to a knowledge based economy;
• highlight the importance of protection and enforcement of IP in today’s knowledge-based society as it relates to the global economy;
• examine St. Kitts and Nevis’ primary policies related to IP protection and enforcement;
• explore the relevance of interagency cooperation in relation to protection and enforcement of IP.
Ultimately, it is envisaged that this work will bring awareness and urgency to Government Ministries, Departments, and Key Agencies on the far reaching implications for non-compliance with international Intellectual Property (IP) Laws, and to better position the St. Kitts and Nevis’ citizens to know, protect, and take advantage of their IP right.
