Youth Group marks Month of the Elderly with donations to the Cardin Home

By: O.R.A.N.G.E., Press Release

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, October 21st 2016 - In recognition of the month of the elderly West Basseterre based youth group O.R.A.N.G.E. donated cases of disposable diapers, catheters and a microwave in a move that would assist with the overall care of the residents of the Cardin Home.

During a brief handing over ceremony at the facility, Samal Duggins, President of the youth group expressed gratitude to the nurses at the home and pledged the youth groups continued assistance. Duggins said, “On behalf of O.R.A.N.G.E I am happy to extend this small token to the staff and residents of this facility. As an organization, family and generational empowerment are pillars on which we stand. Therefore we believe that it is critical to show respect and appreciation for the generations before us in order to inspire the generations to come.”

Assistant Nurse Manager, Lavern Bass who received the items on behalf of the Cardin Home took the opportunity to register her gratitude on behalf of the Ministry of Health, the executive committee, the staff and the residents. She stated, “I wish to convey our deepest gratitude to all who have contributed. It is a very timely donation, particularly the pampers, as we all know how expensive they are. Moreover it is not often that persons are willing to come on board and invest in this facility. Therefore we are grateful for your contributions.”

Organization Really About Next Generation Empowerment (O.R.A.N.G.E) continues to make contributions throughout the wider community. This recent donation comes on the heels of a project, which saw the enhancement of the Early Stimulation classroom at the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School, scholarships to the Dr. William Connor Primary School and Bronte Welsh Primary School and various clean up campaigns throughout the community.
