Operation Andrew floods Fort Street with the gospel music

Operation Andrew musicians spread the Gospel on Fort Street

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE atmosphere on Fort Street was transformed yesterday (May 26) by a small group of gospel musicians spreading the message of Christ through song and instrumentals to passers-by during the busy lunch hour.

The project, dubbed “Operation Andrew”, is a ministry of the International Commission, a gospel group spreading the message of Christ around the world through small youth subgroups. A contingent from International Commission has been hosted by the Antioch Baptist Church (ABC) during this week and will be making a number of appearances in various churches.

Vocalists and musicians sang songs of praises and worship as other members of the group distributed flyers and tracks with messages of Jesus Christ.

The Pastor of ABC, Lincoln Connor, told SKNVibes that Operation Andrew is based on the Bible and is designed for Christians to attract their friends and family members into a close relationship with God.

“It is based on [the Gospel of St.] John 1:40-42 where Simon Peter heard about Jesus and he went immediately to tell his brother Andrew about it. Individuals who are saved and they have friends or loved ones they would want to walk in that way, they should go out and encourage them to make that decision,” Connor said.

Pastor Connor described the initiative as a “personal touch to traditional outreach” where Christians are able to interact with other individuals, create relationships and, through them, encourage individuals to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour.

Connor informed that the churches to benefit from the gospel ministry are the Basseterre Church of God, Living Word, People’s Evangelistic Centre and the Faith Tabernacle Church Basseterre.

Operation Andrew was formed as a non-profit organisation in early June by the Executive Committee of the Middle Tennessee Billy Graham Crusade. The committee, realising that evangelism must transcend racial and cultural barriers, thought it fit to launch out with the message of Christ.
