Registration plates stolen from vehicle in broad daylight

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A pair of licence plates were stolen from a vehicle yesterday afternoon (Oct. 27) while it was in the parking lot at Pot Zante surrounded by several other vehicles.

     

    The incident, SKNVibes understands, took place at about 2:15 p.m. while the owner was at work.

    After it was realized that the offence was committed, the owner contact the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force a member(s) visited the scene and took a statement.

    The stolen plates bear the registration number P1149.

    Consequently, the Traffic Department is asking that persons pay attention and be vigilant to vehicular traffic, so that if this registration number is seen on any vehicle, such information should be passed on to the nearest police station. It can be handed over anonymously. 

    SKNVibes understands also that the Traffic Department has received reports that individuals are switching licence plates from vehicles or mounting fictitious ones with a view to committing illegal acts.

    In this regard, the public is again being asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity, and offending individuals are warned to desist from such practices or face possible prosecution.
