SKNVibes bio of Music Festival artiste Regina Belle

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ONE of the schedule performances for the Saturday night activity of the 13th annual St. Kitts Music Festival is Grammy Award winner Regina Belle. Also appearing on the same night will be Hans and the Hillbillies, KC5, Shakki, T-Pain, and KC and The Sunshine band. 

     

    Born in New Jersey, Regina Belle’s career dates back to the early days of the 1980s and she received a Grammy for one of her biggest hits ever, ‘A Whole New World’, since her career started.

     

    It was in church where Belle was first discovered for her melodious voice. She sang her first solo in church at age 8, and by age 17 she was the church's star singer.

     

    ‘All By Myself’, ‘Passion’, ‘This is Regina’ and ‘Love Forever Shines’ are among the many albums that Belle has had thus far, with singles including ‘If I could’, ‘Baby Come To Me’, Dream in Color’, The Deeper Love’, ‘For The Love of you and ‘I’ve Had Enough’. 

     

    In 1991 she was nominated for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance with ‘Make It Like It Was’, and in 1994 she was nominated for ‘Record of the Year’ with ‘A Whole New World’ while being nominated again in 1999 for Best Traditional Album with her song ‘Believe in me’. She was also nominated for Best Traditional Album in 2002,  but this time it was for ‘This is Regina’.

     

    ‘A Whole New World’ won Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group in 1994 and she was also a nominee in 1993 for Best Song From a Movie.
