BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A high-speed chase involving members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force today (Oct. 30) ended with two men being taken into custody.
Information reaching this publication states that while officers were engaged in a vehicle patrol along the F.T. Williams Highway earlier today, they attempted to stop a vehicle within which were two suspicious-looking individuals.
The driver did not stop but instead accelerated and overtook a long line of other vehicles, which seemingly confirm the officers’ suspicion that something was amiss and they gave chase.
While being pursued, the vehicle collided with a white vehicle on the F.T. Williams Highwas and headed towards the Frigate Bay Area.
It seemed, however, that the driver lost control when in Half Moon Heights area and the vehicle ran off the embankment and ended up in some bushes in the vicinity of the golf course.
The two men exited the vehicle and were attempting to run away from the scene, but the police arrived shortly after and fired two warning shots in the air which forced them to be taken into custody.
It is not known if they were found with any illegal items, but no firearm was in their possession.
Meanwhile, another shooting incident occurred in Old Road last night.
