Glitter and Gold Beauty and Makeup Workshop comes off over weekend

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AFTER the successful hosting of her first workshop last year, local makeup artist Donella Dias will again be releasing a wealth of knowledge and techniques during her Glitter and Gold 2K16 Beginners Comprehensive Beauty and Makeup Workshop this weekend.

The event will take place over two days – Saturday (Nov. 5) and Sunday (Nov. 6) - at the Open Creative Campus in Fortlands.

The workshop is opened to those who either want to learn how to enhance their beauty with flawless makeup or they have an ambition to pursue makeup artistry as a career.

Dias – MUADonellaD – is collaborating with Kenesia ‘Angel’ Jack – MusliMUA – and together the duo will unleash a wealth of information to the registrants in various areas including parts of the face, colour correction, eyebrow grooming and shaping, three basic looks, skincare and choosing the right shade of foundation, and other important tips.

Recalling the beginning of her journey down the makeup artistry road, Dias informed that she allowed her passion to get the better of her; a decision for which she has no regrets. She said she hopes the workshop would cause the registrants to become similarly inspired.

“Six years ago I got really interested in makeup and my curiosity got the better of me and I went to a makeup workshop and I was wowed by the possibilities that makeup offers and the wonderful colours. I was driven by my passion and got even more involved and invested in the skill-set, and today I actually have made a career out of this form of artistry. It is my hope that through this workshop the registrants would be similarly inspired and even chart a course for themselves in makeup application.”

While speaking with this publication, Dias explained that the workshop is the perfect springboard for those who have interest in becoming a professional makeup artist.

“It is for persons who have a passion for makeup. Some persons are interested in makeup simply to use on themselves or on their friends and relatives. And then there are those who have a deeper interest; one which has them considering the possibilities as it relates to a career. For those creative minds, this workshop would prepare you by giving you a taste of what the job entails if you decide to go that route.”

The sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. daily and would run until 5:30 p.m., and a registration fee of $250 is applicable. Registrants will each receive a luxury goody bag and two participants will win attractive prizes.

“Two lucky ladies attending this workshop will walk away with a prize each. One person would win a six-month supply teeth-whitening kit from KK Supplies and another would win a free photoshoot from Ricki Richardson Photography. At the end of the workshop, all registrants would receive a luxury goody bag which would have some very nice makeup pieces inside. Those items were provided through the kind compliments of Ashburry's.”

Dias reiterated that “even if your purpose is just to learn how to enhance your natural beauty, this class is for you. Don’t miss out”.

MUADonellaD takes the opportunity to thank the following sponsors and contributors to the Glitter and Gold 2K16 Beginners Comprehensive Beauty and Makeup Workshop - Ashburry’s Dutyfree, Aqua Vita, Kimirah Isaac and Steve McMahon - and she expressed her hope that these partnerships would stretch into the future.
