BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – LOCAL artiste Sudine Clarke, a.k.a. Sudiepop, will be a guest at a benefit concert in Jamaica called “Music in the name of Life”.

The concert will be held on Saturday, May 30 at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre beginning at 8:00 p.m., with gates opening at 5:00 p.m.

Music in the name of Life is organised for the Martha’s House in Central Kinston, which is a home for children living with HIV/AIDS It is operated by the Mustard Seed Communities and was recently destroyed by fire on March 16.

The concert will be divided into three segments - Gospel, Womanbition and Hotsteppers -boasting some of Jamaica's top gospel, reggae and dancehall acts on stage celebrating life through music, with hopes of raising J$2.5M.

Performers are said to include Nadine Sutherland, To-Isis, Bob Andy, D'Angel, Sudie Pop (from out of St. Kitts), Romain Virgo, Noddy Virtue, Rootz Underground and Ryan Mark.
Clarke told SKNVibes that she is overwhelmed and excited about the opportunity to perform at the benefit concert.

“Well for me, a chance to be a part of something like this is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me; it’s also an honour and a privilege,” she said.

Singing has always been a favorite past-time for the young artiste who was a member of a group called The Loonz before releasing her first single ‘You on my mind’ featuring Jah Fire.

She also released a single in February, just in time for Valentine’s Day. According to the artiste, the song is called ‘Reminisce’, done on the Independent Lady Riddim and was made especially for lovers.

Clarke sings Reggae, R&B, Dancehall and also Hip Hop.

The concert is being presented by Lawman Lynch Foundation in association with the Kiwanis Club of Constant Spring and the Kingston & St. Andrew Action Forum (KSA-AF).

Lawman Lynch, Youth Advocate and first Vice President of the KSA-AF, said in a release to SKNVibes that the benefit concert is a great means of achieving the expected goals of assisting in getting needy HIV/AIDS medication to children living with the virus.

“This is a great initiative at the centre of which we are calling for you to help a child, save a life, as well as contribute required necessities for the children's home that lack adequate basic resources," Lynch said.

He said that the name of the concert was fitting, as it seeks to entertain through music in a bid to preserve life.

The key issues of the event are to provide AIDS medication for children living with AIDS, alleviate the cost associated with operating a HIV/AIDS children’s home, providing survival items for marginalised children, and the sharing of one’s time and resources for a worthy cause.

Lynch declared that they are focusing on positively impacting the lives of children living with HIV/AIDS and also the lives of a significant number of marginalised Jamaican children by providing basic items for their daily survival.
