On realisation of his demise, Henry ran out of the house and was greeted by two armed unidentified men; one of whom opened fire and struck him on the right buttock, his right leg and another close to his navel.

The 50-year-old man was taken to the Joseph N France General Hospital by a unit of the Emergency Medical Services, where he is warded in critical condition.

Information further states that the house was also on fire, and although members of the Fire Department quickly responded, it was totally destroyed.

Police Press and Public Relations Officer, Inspector Cromwell Henry confirmed the occurrence of the incident and noted that no suspect has so far been held but investigations are ongoing.

Henry also stated that the police are appealing to persons with information on this incident to call the Cayon Police Station at 465-7258 or the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at 465-2241 extension 220, 230 or 236. “All information received will be held in strict confidence,” he added.
