    Roadtown, Tortola - Ferry companies licensed in the Virgin Islands (UK) are being invited to submit bids for the operation of a service between Anegada and Tortola.

     

    Government has issued this notice for ferry services to take effect from August 18, 2009 for one year with operations on Mondays and Fridays.

     

    The proposed routes for ferry operations are from Road Town, Tortola with a stop in Valley, Virgin Gorda and continuing on to Setting Point, Anegada and returning from Anegada to Tortola via Valley, Virgin Gorda.

     

    All bids should be submitted with a cover letter by June 15, 2009 to the Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office.

     

    All applications must include a valid Virgin Islands (UK) trade license and certificates of good standing from the Director of the BVI Social Security Board, Commissioner of Inland Revenue and the Registrar of Corporate Affairs. Companies are also required to only submit originals of these documents.

    Currently Smith's Ferry Services Ltd. provides a three-day ferry service between Tortola and Anegada in accordance with an agreement with Government signed in 2007.  The agreement will expire on August 16, 2009.
