BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT was a festive atmosphere yesterday (Nov. 18) at Digicel’s Fort Street office, where the telecommunications agency launched its 2016 Christmas promotion which has $100,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs.
From females bedecked in DFX’s 2016 parade costumes to masqueraders, to an in-house DJ to Digi Girls, the Digicel staff pulled out all the stops to bring an official start to their #GetGifted promotion.
Before the in-store portion of the launch got underway, the small procession of mas makers and the Digi Girls travelled up Fort Street, pausing in front of Digicel’s store for a brief display of culture and to attract the attention of passersby.
Digicel’s Marketing Executive Tishanna Jeffers explained to this publication that the promotion involves a number of elements and that they are all geared towards moving their customers “from bland to grand”.
“The #GetGifted theme is us trying to gift our customers. We have an underlying theme that basically says ‘From Empty to Fully Loaded, from Bland to Grand’. So basically if you’ve gotten a gift last year and you got, let’s say a pen, Digicel is taking you from empty to fully-loaded or from bland to grand this Christmas.”
She said Samsung is the brand for the 2016 Christmas promotion and in addition to customers receiving the opportunity to win prizes including smartphones, there will be deals on all Samsung phones.
“We also have a text to win element. We have a text to win game monthly and this month it includes the first prize winner getting $5,000, the second prize winner getting $3,000 and the third place winner getting $1,000. But the overall winner for Christmas would be getting $10,000 in hard cash. And there are other prizes to be won.”
Customers who visited the store yesterday, after the promotion was launched, and conducted any business which saw them paying as little as $5, received a chance to draw from the Digicel Treasure Chest.
Prizes to be won there included free credit, vouchers from Rituals and S. L. Horsford’s, and a free costume from DFX.
Jeffers reminded customers that in order for them to be eligible to win, they must participate in the various activities.
