Green Valley International Night flopped!

By: Cherisse M. Sutton-Jeffers, SKNVibes

BASSESTERRE, St. Kitts – LAST night (May 31), which was intended to be the International Night of the Green Valley Festival, turned out to be a flop as the event did not attract anyone up to 3:00 a.m. when SKNVibes left Maynard’s Park.

The show, which was scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m., was supposed to see three performers out of St. Croix, Volcano, Mada Nile and Xcaliba, and a number of local acts.

Although the venue was empty, local Rastafarian singer Ashkenaz came onstage and sang his heart out for over 30 minutes.

The festival, so far, had featured a number of shows including the Miss Green Valley Queen Pageant which took place on Friday night (May 29) and saw Natasha Benjamin capturing the title, while on Saturday night the Calypso Show got a good response with Singing Angie being crowned this year’s Senior Calypso Monarch.

The festival continues today with the early J’Ouvert morning jam session and concludes later this evening with the Parade of Troupes and Last Lap sessions.
