BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POPULARLY known for her ability as a singer, Miss St. Kitts Khyla Brown has added another crown to her name as she was adjudged winner of the first ever Miss Caribbean Carnival last evening (Dec. 17) at Carnival Village.
In her quest for the crown, the reigning Miss Caribbean Culture and First Runner-up in the 2015 National Carnival Queen Pageant had amassed a total of 1556.80 points, winning three of the five judged segments in the process.
She was adjudged winner of the Ambassador Wear, Evening Wear and Swimwear segments, while Miss Barbados, Zhané Padmore, copped the First Runner-up position with 1458.10 points and had won the prize for Best Performing Talent.
With 1400 points, Miss Nevis, Xarriah Browne, took home the prize for Best On-Stage Interview and tallied 1400 points for the Second Runner-up position; while Djennicia Francis, Miss Trinidad and Tobago, was announced the Third Runner-up with 1389.60 points.
The other contesting beauties were: Miss Guyana, Odessa Grogan, who was voted Miss Amity; Miss British Virgin Islands, Sasha Wintz; and Miss St. Maarten, Keshana Hammer.
Brown had eclipsed six other beauties from around the region to walk away with the crown and title of Miss Caribbean Carnival at the Sugar Mill Carnival Village in Basseterre, St. Kitts.
Despite the threats of rain, a fair-sized crowd had attended the inaugural pageant
Initially, the pageant was scheduled to have 12 contestants. However, due to unexplained problems with the other five getting to the Federation, only seven had competed.
