BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – IT began as a hike through the terrain of the Olivees Mountain but turned into a rescue effort after a woman slipped and fell over a cliff.
Information which SKNVibes received indicated that Eileen Stillane of California, USA, but who is staying in Jessups, Nevis, along with Charles Leon, hiked to the Waterfalls and while they were on their way back down, she slipped and fell.
Stillane reportedly fell over a 20-25-foot cliff and the incident occurred on December 22 sometime after 1:00 in the afternoon.
SKNVibes understands that Leon sought assistance for Stillane and the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services responded. When the 11-member rescue team – which included two Emergency Medical Technicians - got to the area, the woman appeared to have injuries to her left side including a dislocated wrist, apparent broken ribs and a deep laceration over her left eye.
The woman – said to be in her late 40s – was stabilized on a backboard which was placed in a basketlike device which the fire officers used to manually transport the woman from the area.
At the end of their journey, she was loaded into an Emergency Medical Services vehicle and taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.
Whether or not Stillane was eventually released from the Hospital, this publication is unaware.
