By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSTERRE, St. Kitts - THE Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen crown skipped across the narrows last night (Dec. 30) from one sister isle to the next and now sits on the head of Kadeema Blanchette of St. Kitts.

Blanchette was one of nine beautiful and talented young ladies representing various territories/islands across the Caribbean in the 37th edition of the show.

Aliya Wong of Guyana, Reanne White of Barbados, Kezia Sylvester of the USVI, Shaida Francios of Dominica, Anastasia Cush of Nevis, Diandra Marlin of St. Maarten, Arielle Gaskin of Anguilla, Keithryl Miller of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Blanchette appeared in four segments.

The appearances began with the Talent Segment, which was followed by the Theatrical Appearance, then the Evening Wear Segment and capped with the Interview Segment.

The presentations in the Talent Segment were captivating to say the least and while there were one or two shaky points in the Interview Segment, most of the young ladies answered their question with confidence and poise.

Miss Barbados’ performance during the four segments earned her an amalgamated 724 points for Third Runner Up, with Miss Anguilla seizing the Second Runner Up Spot with 734.5 points.

Miss Guyana was named First Runner Up with a meager two points ahead of Anguilla.

And with 70.5 points ahead of Miss Anguilla, Blanchette, Miss St. Kitts, was able to win the crown.

As the announcements were being made, the audience applauded as each participant received their trophies. But when Blanchette was announced as the winner screams and cheers rang through Carnival Village by the gleeful audience.

Blanckette won the Talent Segment with 348 points and the Theatrical Appearance Segment with 225 points. Miss Anguilla took the Best Interview with 154 points and Miss Nevis won the Evening Wear Segment with 99.5 points.

The show was hosted by St. Kitts and Nevis’ Jason Davis and Trinidad and Tobago’s Rodell Cumberbatch. Entertainment was provided by the Royalties Band, Dejour and Shanna.

Last year’s crown was won by Nevis’ Nelia Jones.
