BASSETERRE, St. Kitts- AS the executives of the People’s Action Movement (PAM) continue with their “On the road to victory rally”, this Saturday (June 6) they will bring to the people of the Federation an exciting show featuring Jamaican reggae veteran Freddie McGregor at the Five Ways Junction.

The event will also see DJs Sweet Sister Sensia, Yardy and Fresh as well as a number of local artistes. According to the People’s Action Movement Public Relations Officer (PRO), Wallis Wilkin, this is their first major rally for the year for their “Campaign for change 2K9” and they have gotten the services of the Jamaican reggae legend.

He said this would serve as the first of a number of rallies that the party would be staging leading up to the general elections.

Wilkin also added that the PAM would use the opportunity to release the first of a number of their campaign songs.

McGregor, who performed in St. Kitts May last year alongside his son Chino and Bushman, has a huge number of hits under his belt dating as far back as the early ’80s. He has won the hearts of many with hits such as ‘Just Don’t Wanna Be Lonely’, ‘Cherry Oh Baby’, ‘Gate Pass to Your Heart’, ‘Name and Number’, ‘I was Born a Winner’ and many others.

The singer, songwriter and producer has been performing since in the 1960s and has earned himself the title of “A living legend”, satisfying many souls with his ‘rootsy’ lover’s tracks and laid-back vocal delivery.

Being one of reggae’s most durable and soulful singers, he has spanned almost every stylistic shifts in Jamaican music from ‘Ska’ and ‘Rockers’ to ‘Rastafarian Roots Reggae’ to ‘Lovers Rock’ to experimenting in dancehall.

The event is free and kicks off at 4:00 p.m. and goes all the way down until 2:00 a.m.
