BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – ACHIEVING further success in its quest to remove illegal firearms from the Federation’s streets, the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force has confiscated its second for the year.
The find of a .40mm pistol and ammunition was made yesterday (Jan. 16).
A police communique – issues today - advised that it was discovered in a house in Willett’s Housing Project, St. Pauls during the execution of a search warrant.
The operation was conducted by members of the Police Force’s K-9 Unit, police officers of Division B and members of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force.
Also part of the find, the release informs, was a quantity of marijuana was taken into police custody.
The release, however, does not indicate how many individuals were taken into custody following the seizure of the items but it did indicate that charges are forthcoming.
Only six days ago, during an operation in the Upper Cayon area, a Mac 10 pistol was discovered wrapped in a plastic bag. A matching magazine and .9mm rounds of ammunition were also discovered and seized.
Concerning the most-recent gun-find, the police press release quotes Commander of District ‘B’ Superintendent Lionel Moore as saying, “Focused intelligence gathering and text book search operations, with attention to detail has paid off. I commend you. Keep it up."
