RUCAS H. E giving back after soca victory

By: Jermine Abel, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, ST. Kitts - FRESH off his victory in the 2016/2017 Groovy Soca Competition, Caseem ‘Rucas H.E.’ Pemberton has launched a campaign to give back to the community in various forms.

Pemberton, who since his victory is described in many quarters as the ‘sway man’, took time out of his busy schedule of working with the government and singing, to donate trophies to two schools on Tuesday (Jan 17).

The Basseterre High School and the Dr. William Connor Primary School were the two institutions that he made the donations to, and according to Pemberton, they were chosen because they were instrumental in his educational upbringing.

“The Basseterre High School is my former high school and this is just my way of showing gratitude for them molding me into the person that I have become today.”

The donation of the trophies forms part of a cheer and chant competition that each of the institutions would have leading up to their individual sports days.

He noted that points would be awarded to the house that wins that competition and at the end of it, the champion house would be crowned.

Additionally, he revealed that the donation forms part of an overarching plan of community work that he expects to undertake throughout the year.

“People would be seeing me doing a lot more stuff in the community. I am currently in the process of sorting out some stuff that I don’t want to reveal just yet, but you’ll definitely be seeing more Rucas H.E doing community work. You see, I think I am now in a position where I can say thanks to the people out there,” Pemberton said.

The young artiste shot to stardom last year when he romped to victory in the Groovy Competition with his catchy song “Sway”, which was a crowd favourite throughout the entire Carnival competition.

The 2016/2017 Soca competition was his first singing as a solo artiste.

He currently has his eyes set on competing in and winning at next month’s International Soca Monarch event in Trinidad and Tobago.
