Roadtown, Tortola - Technicians associated with JoClaud Enterprises Limited will arrive in the Territory tomorrow to begin installation work on the set of traffic lights and signals on June 5.

“We are happy that we will soon be able to begin execution of this project after publicly signing the contract with JoClaud Enterprises Limited a few months ago,” Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works Mr. John Samuel told the Department of Information and Public Relations.

“We are implementing this project in the interest of the residents of the Territory and we look forward to a smooth construction and transition into the operational phase of the project,” Mr. Samuel added.

Over the course of the next four to six weeks the motoring public and pedestrians are being advised to proceed with caution when traversing these areas. “During the construction phase of the project, we seek the support and patience from the motoring public, as we will do all within our power to minimise the disruption to traffic,” Mr. Samuel said.

As part of the contract signed with Government on March 13th,JoClaud technicians will be installing traffic lights and signals at the Road Town Roundabout and at the intersection at Admin Drive and Waterfront Drive in an effort to relieve traffic congestion in those areas.

Phase one of the Waterfront Drive Modernisation Project once completed is expected to increase traffic flow and minimize congestion, while providing a more safe and pedestrian friendly capital, reaffirming  Government’s commitment to implementing improved traffic management systems for Road Town.
