21st Annual St. Kitts Music Festival launched

By: (SKNIS), Press Release

Basseterre, St. Kitts, February 01, 2017 (SKNIS): For the first time in history, the St. Kitts Music Festival Committee made the announcement in February of the selection of the first set of artists to appear on the Annual St. Kitts Music Festival.

According to Chairman of the Artists Selection Committee, Ambassador Jonel Powel, who spoke at the official launch of the 2017 Music Festival on Wednesday February 01, the first selected artists are Jah Cure, Mavado, Shabba Ranks and Goo Goo Dolls.

Ambassador Powell further indicated that the committee intends to be innovative in the planning of the Thursday night segment of the festival.

“We really want to put some energy into Thursday night,” he said, noting, “we will have regional and international acts coming in but we want to involve the local public more.”

The selection committee chairman explained that some of the possible innovations are “to include bringing international deejays to participate in the atmosphere; we’ve actually had suggestions of having a foam pit on the Thursday night Music Festival,” adding, “One of the new things we would like to present to you is a band clash between local bands, where the participants will be selected by you the public. We hope to have your involvement through social media and other means to vote and determine which two local bands you want to see clash.”

Explaining that Wednesday’s announcement was just a teaser, the chairman indicated that the committee is ready to announce more acts and other details of the festival by the end of February.

The St. Kitts Music Festival will take place June 22 to 24 at the Warner Park Stadium in Basseterre.
